Casting P-44 Data Sheet and Product Info
Learn more about our urethane and silicone casting services.
P-44 Platinum silicone is one of the best tooling silicone available on the market in terms of cost and quality. It is the main silicone RapidMade, Inc. uses in our silicone molds for urethane casting. Aside from providing great value cost per pound for our customers P-44 Platinum silicone offers several other quality advantages. P-44 is a zero shrink silicone making for high accuracy castings off our patterns, the tear resistance and resistance to drying out makes our tools last 30 to 50 shots and up to about a year before they dry out or tear. P-44 has an extremely high heat resistance/operating temperature of up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit or 315 degrees Celsius making it capable of casting some low heat metals like tin and pewter.
P-44 Product Information
General Information
P-44 is a translucent, medium viscosity, high tear strength, platinum-catalyzed, RTV-2 silicone rubber, which was designed for casting parts where visual inspection is required. It is easy to mix and de-air, and will cure with virtually no shrinkage. The speed at which the rubber hardens can be dramatically accelerated with heat or with Pt Accelerator at room temperature. Addition-cure two-component silicone rubbers exhibit excellent chemical and heat resistance, but may show some inhibition sensitivity. P-44 is supplied with 2 Activators: P-44A (1) is used for production molds, while P-44A (2) is used for casting clear parts. P-44 is extremely useful for prototype applications where superior mechanical properties are required.
