Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) Nylon 2201 PA Data Sheet
Learn more about our SLS services.
Selective Laser Sintering, or SLS, is one of the original 3D print technologies that uses production grade plastic like Nylon 12 (PA12) which comes in two main forms, PA 2201 and PA 2200. The mechanical and thermal properties of this material are top notch and the technology makes repeatable production grade parts suitable for manufactured parts in a variety of industries like medical, automotive, aerospace, robotics, oil and gas and automation.
PA 2201, a whitish, a bit more translucent polamide 12 powder, is in compliance with FDA, 21 CFR, part 177.1500 9(b) exept for alcoholic foodstuff. Apart from that PA 2201 and PA 2200 have identical material properties. Laser-sintered parts made from PA 2201 possess excellent material properties:
High strength and stiffness
Good chemical resistance
Excellent long-term constant behavior
High selectivity and detail resolution
Various finishing possibilities (e.g. metallization, stove enamelling, vibratory grinding, tub coloring, bonding, powder coating, flocking)
Typical applications of the material are fully functional plastic parts of the highest quality. Due to the excellent mechanical properties the material is often used to substitute typical injection molding plastics. The biocompatibility allows its use e.g. for prostheses, the high abrasion resistance allows e.g. the realization of movable part connections.
