How It Works

Reverse engineered 3D printed replacement part for a pulley.

Step 1

Images of the part are submitted via email and evaluated. A preliminary price is quoted to the customer based on the images provided. The client then sends the physical part. If it differs from the original photo, the price may be adjusted.

Step 2

The part is measured with precision tools to accurately capture it's shape and size. This information is used to create a 3D model of the part using SolidWorks.

Step 3

The completed 3D CAD file is then sent to the client or used by RapidMade to manufacture the part for the

3D scanner used for quickly create CAD models of existing objects for reverse engineering.

High-Resolution 3D Scanning Services

The Geomagic Capture scanner creates mesh models by capturing every segment of a part from different angles that can be merged into a single digital recreationt.

The ideal part size for the Capture is approximately 8” x 8” x 8” with a matte white surface finish. Larger items up to 24” x 24” x 24” are possible, but anything much larger than that generally requires a large number of scans, which often yields poor results. Items smaller than 3” x 3” x 3” may not suitable for our scanner if they have features that are too small or thin for the capture to acquire.
